Formed in 1987 GFI provides competitive inter-dealer brokerage services in a multitude of global cash and derivatives markets, including credit derivatives and fixed income, foreign exchange and financial derivatives, equity, energy and commodities. GFI has been a key player in developing a number of new markets including, credit derivatives, freight, weather, emissions and is also assisting clients in executing new hybrid market products such as equity default swaps and hybrid energy products. GFIs brokers provide voice brokerage services for each of the markets in which GFI operates. These are typically illiquid and more complex than the markets for more standardised financial instruments. In GFI’s less commoditised markets brokers perform a valuable role for their clients, using their position at the centre of information flows to source the best price. Since 1999, GFI has strategically been deploying hybrid solutions in a number of markets by using online or electronic systems to support its voice brokerage operations. GFI strongly believes that success as an inter-dealer broker in complex markets will be determined by the ability to combine in one offering, the best price, market intelligence and the most efficient execution and post trade service.
