Sol-Law is a partnership of Barristers, Solicitors and Notaries established in 1996 to provide commercial legal services within Solomon Islands and to overseas clients in relation to matters concerning Solomon Islands across the whole spectrum of the commercial community from the multi-national corporation to the sole trader. Sol-Law is a partnership of barristers and solicitors resident in both Solomon Islands and Australia with over 80 years combined experience in the law. The partners are John Sullivan QC, Dennis McGuire, Thomas Kama, and John Katahanas. Sol-Law incorporates the Solomon Islands’ legal practices of each of Thomas T. Kama and Jennifer C. Corrin, respected Barristers and Solicitors of the High Court of Solomon Islands with many years of local experience in local legal matters, particularly in the commercial law/commercial litigation fields.
The partnership is in a sense rare to Solomon Islands in that seldom has there been a legal practice based in Solomon Islands which combines the talent and experience of local lawyers with that of partners connected with another jurisdictions and linked by up to date communication aids. In another sense, the partnership continues the distinguished association with Solomon Islands by both John Sullivan and Dennis McGuire each of whom has represented clients in legal matters in Solomon Islands in the past. While linking Solomon Islands based lawyers with lawyers from an Australian background, Sol-Law has not lost sight of the need to understand the commercial community in Solomon Islands, to be appreciative of its needs, and how best to provide and service those needs. Sol-Law is thus fortunate to bring together a wealth of experienced lawyers who have an understanding of Solomon Islands’ commercial community. Sol-Law is the largest legal practice in Solomon Islands and enjoys a healthy relationship with other private legal practitioners and those in the public sector in this country.
