Insurance Society of Philadelphia


Category: Financial education and training. Country: United States (USA). About the Society: The Insurance Society was founded in Philadelphia in 1901. Its primary purpose at the time was to provide an arena for the exchange of ideas within the insurance community. The Insurance Society, a non-profit organization, has grown considerably over the years and now offers a variety of courses and workshops that provide education to the insurance, legal and financial services industries. The goal of the Insurance Society is to educate and promote professionalism in these industries. In addition the Society is the administrator of industry-wide events such as The Independence Gala and Philly I Day. The Insurance Society has over 200 member companies and offers classes in IIA/CPCU and AEI subjects; certificate and designation (WCCC) programs in Workers’ Compensation claims; Brokers Licensing preparation; technical and skill building workshops; programs for continuing education credits for Insurance Agents and Brokers; a CLE curriculum for attorneys, and seminars for experienced personnel. In addition the Society performs education consulting and develops and implements "custom made" educational programs in response to specific education needs. Semester Courses: The Insurance Society offers semester length classes to prepare students in the study of a variety of subjects. Scheduled classes are primarily offered for the courses offered by the Insurance Institute of America and the American Institute for CPCU (IIA/CPCU) subjects, Workers Compensation Claims Certified (WCCC) designation program for Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and courses to prepare for the Pennsylvania Producer License Examination (PPL). Classes have also been scheduled for the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), American Educational Institute (AEI) programs, Writing, Customer Service and Legal Studies. Classes are scheduled based upon student demand. But if you are interested in any class or course not currently available please contact the Insurance Society. If there is sufficient student enrollment interest the class will be considered and added to the schedule. Also, on-site classes can be arranged by contacting the Insurance Society. Tuition discounts are available for bulk enrollments. Currently scheduled classes open to member and nonmember companies are listed below. Continuing Legal Education: Many Insurance Society workshops and seminars provide continuing legal education credits. They can be found in the catalog of offerings or by searching this website. In addition, the Insurance Society offers a service in partnership with member companies and law firms to create custom designed legal education programs to meet Continuing Legal Education requirements.
