HSBC Educational Programs, Grants and Financial Workshops

Category: Financial education and training. Country: United States (USA). We believe that education is a key to prosperity. As a result, we invest in many educational programs, putting special emphasis on financial and economic education, homeownership, providing scholarships to students age 3-25, and supporting projects and organizations that educate youth age 3-19. HSBC - North America ("HSBC") offers financial education through a variety of sources in order to reach as many people as possible and provide them the tools to make informed financial decisions: YourMoneyCounts.com, our online guide to financial and credit education, is available in both English and Spanish. The site provides articles, tools and calculators designed to help people understand more about saving, spending and borrowing. Through our Financial Education Grant program, HSBC has supported 36 grassroots organizations with over $3 million in grants to develop financial literacy programs in local communities, over the last three years. In partnership with two nonprofit organizations, we offered almost 100 financial education workshops in 22 states during 2004. The curriculum is designed to help consumers manage their spending and borrowing. HSBC provides Corporate Grants in support of grassroots financial education efforts, particularly for youth age 3-19. In addition to HSBC’s homeownership education initiatives, we support programs that promote the preservation of affordable housing, foreclosure avoidance programs and consumer rescue. HSBC is committed to providing access to education. We have formed partnerships with multiple organizations to identify motivated and deserving students to receive scholarship awards. A sampling of our partnerships include: The United Negro College Fund - the oldest and most successful minority higher education assistance organization in the United States. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) - is the nation’s premier organization that provides scholarships to advance the college education of Hispanic Americans. University of Maryland University College (UMUC) - the world’s leading provider of higher education to the military. Bennett College for Women - a historically black, four-year liberal arts college for women in Greensboro, N.C...
